PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Specify the detection function before choosing the camera.
Camera-based fire monitoring equipment includes different technologies. STARK helps source suitable optical video detection or thermal monitoring products against a defined scene and the site’s approved safety and monitoring arrangement.
Visual analytics may recognize supported flame or smoke patterns. Thermal equipment can provide temperature exception monitoring, with some dual-sensor models adding other detection functions. A thermal sensor alone does not establish every visual smoke or flame capability.
Manufacturer application limits, certifications where required, coverage, environmental conditions and integration outputs are reviewed for the exact product. Installation, commissioning and the alert response workflow must be agreed before the equipment is placed into operation.
What to consider
- Verified visual smoke/flame analytics options
- Thermal temperature alert and dual-sensor product options
- Detection zones and compatible event outputs
- Selection around application limits and commissioning needs
- Equipment and monitoring platform compatibility review
Selection guidance
- Detection type
- Verify optical smoke/flame versus thermal temperature capabilities
- Scene
- Review distance, view, lighting, obstructions and nuisance conditions
- Suitability
- Confirm manufacturer application limits and any required approvals
- Integration
- Check event outputs, monitoring software and test procedures
USEFUL ANSWERS
Common questions
Does every thermal camera detect smoke?
No. Smoke recognition, flame recognition and temperature alarms are separate model-dependent functions.
Are these cameras certified fire alarms?
No general certification claim is made. Any required approval or certification must be verified for the exact equipment and installation design.
Can the camera be added to an existing CCTV system?
Video and event compatibility must be checked. Fire-related event handling also needs an agreed and commissioned response workflow.
